Since its inception 28 years ago, the Partners in Excellence Scholarship Program has been instrumental in awarding more than 30,000 scholarships, totaling more than $39 million. We ask that you contemplate this impact on our students, their families, and the city of Baltimore and ask you to help us continue our work.
These numbers represent more than a figure; they represent the countless dreams realized, aspirations achieved, and lives forever changed. Can you imagine the profound ripple effect these opportunities have had on many Baltimore families? It’s a testament to the enduring power of education to uplift individuals and, by extension, the entire community.
The Partners in Excellence (PIE) Scholarship Program believes that every child deserves an academically excellent education. Secure in the knowledge that through education, we, as a society, can and will break the cycle of poverty for the families of our most marginalized and disadvantaged, PIE seeks to improve the educational options for families and children in Baltimore City by removing the primary obstacle that prevents them from choosing a Catholic education for their children: the cost of tuition.
PIE Scholars become part of a culture that lifts expectations and standards and opens a broader world of opportunities that are often not offered to marginalized students in urban areas. College matriculation rates among PIE Scholars are 2 to 3 times greater than their counterparts in city public schools.
“Without the scholarships and financial assistance I received to make my Catholic education possible, Riccy says, “I would not have felt prepared and capable of going beyond my own limits. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all who believe in the power of a Catholic education and in PIE.”
