Partners In Excellence
In Baltimore, a very special group of schools
is putting thousands of inner city kids on a path toward success. Many
are African-American. The majority live below the poverty line. Yet
nearly all of them graduate and go to on to further their education.
Attending a Partners In Excellence school costs about $4,000
- $9,000 per year, depending on the grade-level of the student.
Many families who want to send their children to these successful
schools earn as little as $15,000 per year, which makes paying
for tuition a significant stretch. They do stretch though. And
we meet them part way.
They need the funding; they want the education and the safe
environment. They know the teachers are tough and that expectations
are high. They want to work hard to succeed, and this desire
to work hard makes your financial gift worthwhile.
The schools exist in some of the most troubled neighborhoods of the
city, yet they succeed because of their disciplined structure, rigorous
instruction and deep belief in the potential of these disadvantaged
children.
These amazing schools are chartered by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. And,
along with these highly motivated students of many faiths, they are doing
truly incredible things.
Our students are the children of families with very low incomes. Some
make as little as $15,000 a year. Yet they make heroic sacrifices to try
to pay tuition – often scraping together as much as 20 percent of
their meager wages. Sadly, even with scholarships from the Archdiocese,
there is rarely enough money to cover full tuition for their child.
That’s where Partners In Excellence comes in.
Partners In Excellence is a group of corporations, foundations and citizens
who graciously donate the funds necessary to give these students the first-rate
education they deserve.
They give because these schools work. And because they know how vitally
important a good education is for a child. A community. An entire city.
